Nate McLouth, who has been horrendous since his trade to the Atlanta Braves on June 3, 2009, was finally sent down to AAA Indianapolis. He will be replaced by first baseman Matt Hague.
In 13 at bats being a pinch hitter, McLouth had no hits, walked four times and struck out five for a triple slash of .000/.235/.000. Overall, McLouth hit .140/.210/.175, striking out 18 times in 57 at bats, translating to a strikeout percentage of 31.5%.
Hague, who started the season with the Pittsburgh Pirates before being optioned to Indianapolis, has hit .278/.325/.333 in 36 games for the Indians.
