Prospect Josh Bell Went Under the Knife

The Pirates announced today that outfield prospect Josh Bell tore his meniscus in his left knee while running the bases three days ago, 4/24/12.  Bell had surgery today in Pittsburgh, performed by Dr. Patrick DeMeo.  He is expected to play down in Bradenton to begin his rehabilitation and then continue to play for the West Virginia Power this season.

Bell was drafted with the first pick in the second round of the 2011 MLB Draft.  In 15 games this year for the West Virignia Power, Bell is hitting .274/.288/.403 with one home run and 11 RBI.  B
