Game 19: Pirates @ Braves

The Pirates headed to Atlanta to take on the Braves in a four-game set at Turner Field.  Back at the place where the Pirates snapped in 2011.  If you recall, and I bet everyone does, the Jerry Meals game was the second game of the last four-game series we played at the Ted.

The Pirates’ lineup for tonight:

1. Presley, LF

2. Barmes, SS

3.  McCutchen, CF

4. Jones, RF

5. Walker, 2B

6. Alvarez, 3B

7. McGehee, 1B

8. Barajas, C

The Braves’ lineup:

1. Bourn, CF

2. Prado, LF

3. Freeman, 1B

4. McCann, C

5. Uggla, 2B

6. Jones, 3B

7. Heyward, RF

8. Pastornicky, SS

The pitching matchup for tonight’s game is RHP A.J. Burnett vs. RHP Tommy Hanson.

In one start this season, Burnett is 1-0.  He threw seven strong innings, giving up three hits and no runs while walking just two and striking out seven.  The last time Burnett pitched against the Braves was on June 29th, 2008, while he was still a member of the Toronto Blue Jays.  Burnett threw seven innings, allowing four hits, no runs, walking four and striking out 11.  Throughout his career, Burnett has started 17 games against the Braves, allowing 41 earned runs in 98.2 innings, for an ERA of 3.74.

Hanson has started four games this season, allowing nine earned runs for an ERA of 3.38.
