According to ESPN.com, Brewers’ outfielder Ryan Braun tested positive for Performing Enhancing Drugs more than a month before winning the NL MVP award. This is the first time that Braun has been accused of using PEDs.
MLB hasn’t announced the findings of the test because Braun is debating the results via an arbitrator. If the arbitrator finds that Braun used the drugs knowingly, he will be suspended for 50 games, similar to the Manny Ramirez suspension in 2009. He won the National League Most Valuable Player award on November 22nd, but he allegedly tested positive in late October. This season he hit a .332/.397/.597 slash line with 33 home runs and drove in 111 runs.
In other news, he won the National League’s Most Valuable Asshole award for this quote: “I would never do it because if I took steroids, I would hit 60 or 70 home runs.”
